Special Effects

A collection of random effects that can trigger when you land on ilbarone.net. Nothing essential, just a bit of fun for whoever notices it. Each box below opens the effect so you can watch it on demand.

BIOS / MS-DOS Boot

A green-phosphor Award BIOS boot sequence, memory test and MS-DOS prompt, complete with beeps and scanlines. Appears on about 1 out of 3-4 homepage loads.

Radar Sweep

A green-phosphor radar sweep with random contacts blinking in and out, full screen, same duration as the boot sequence.

Digital Rain

A cascade of green glyphs falling down the screen, Matrix style. Pure eye candy, full screen.

Access Granted

A tongue-in-cheek hacker terminal: port scan, bruteforce bars, payload upload and a big ACCESS GRANTED.

CRT Power Cycle

The classic CRT monitor collapse into a thin line, static noise, then the screen powers back on.

Virus Drop

A green-phosphor warning message appears, then every letter gives way and falls off screen under gravity.

ILS Landing

A cockpit HUD final approach: a tunnel of guidance boxes leads you down the glideslope to touchdown, with radio altitude callouts.

Oscilloscope

A CRT scope screen, vignetted at corners and edges, tracing a single musical voice with front-panel style frequency, timebase and volts/div selectors.

Ham Radio QSO

A Kenwood/Icom style transceiver panel: VFO, S-meter, a colorful scrolling waterfall and a full simulated radio contact.

Deep Space Signal

A SETI-style radio telescope monitor: a scrolling waterfall spectrogram, a non-random signal alarm, and a decoded alien message.

Punch Card

An IBM 029 keypunch machine punches a real deck of cards with your visit data, column by column — historically accurate geometry and Hollerith code, downloadable as SVG/PNG.
